Already a key strategic initiative for most industries, Digital Transformation took on a heightened importance during Covid. According to CIO.com, “Companies’ adoption of digital technologies has sped up by three to seven years in just months, with companies accelerating effort for fear of being outflanked by competitors”.
Historically, healthcare and pharmaceutical industries have lagged behind when it comes to implementing digital strategies. According to Digital Authority, “Only seven percent of healthcare and pharmaceutical companies said they have gone digital, compared to 15 percent of companies in other industries. The U.S. healthcare market is enormous; with the national health spending projected to reach $5.7 trillion by 2026.” Digital Transformation in healthcare is in its infancy, about to undergo rapid growth and has an exciting broad scope i.e. telemedicine, artificial intelligence (AI)- enabled medical devices, blockchain electronic health records, etc. A key enabler behind all this transformation is Project Managers!

This project, Augmented Vascular Analysis, received the distinction of third on the Top 10 Most Influential Projects in Biotech by PMI in 2021. The following is a summary of the project, “To help determine a patient’s risk of stroke — the number two cause of death worldwide — doctors must scrutinize ultrasound images, looking for potential blood vessel blockages. See-Mode Technologies developed an AI software called Augmented Vascular Analysis that it says can analyze a full vascular ultrasound scan or MRI in under a minute, helping clinicians predict and prevent strokes.
